Born April 30, 1933 in Caldwell County, Paul was a son of the late Rufus and Lillie Nelson. He was a veteran and Sgt. 1st Class in the United States Marine Corp and the owner of his own residential and commercial renovations business. He was a member of Poarch’s Chapel. Paul was a skilled craftsman, painter and artist. He will be remembered as a kind, loving and peaceful man full of wisdom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Nelson, Lawrence Craig, Bill Nelson and Dan Nelson.
Those that are here to celebrate his life include his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Anne Nelson; a son, Mickey Jackson Nelson; his daughters, Kimberly Dollar and Julia Nelson; a step daughter, E. Paige Sergent; his sisters, Lib Michaels and Christine McCreary; a nephew, Bob McCreary; grandchildren, Jason Dollar, Tristan Killian, Tyler Watson, Sadie Newton, Miriah Nelson and Gabriel Nelson; many great grandchildren & his family of the heart, the workers of McReary Modern; he is also survived by numerous other relatives.
Funeral Services for Mr. Nelson will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 3:00PM in the Chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home with Pastor Wallace Smith officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church cemetery with Military Honors provided by members of the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
