Patricia "Patti" Ann Moore passed away on January 3, 2024 in Boone, NC after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Patricia was born on December 7, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA, and was the youngest child to Robert E. and Mary Jane Moore, and sister to Mary Eileen Moore Hartman. After high school she moved to Washington, DC, where she worked for the government. She later moved to Virginia Beach, VA, to raise a family. She is survived by her two children, Raymond and Cheryl.
In Virginia Beach, Paticia was active in various school activities, including PTA, Cub Scouts, youth sports, and her church. She was an early member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach, VA, and actively involved in many aspects of the church including choir and volunteer work, until moving to Boone. She devoted most of her time supporting her church and her children's schools.
She was creative, always sewing or crafting items for use around the home. Her true passions were music, which she often expressed as a member of her church choir, and, in later years, competitive ballroom dancing. Unfortunately, multiple sclerosis eventually affected her fine motor skills, preventing her from dancing. Later on, she required residence in a care facility.
Patti was a long-time resident of Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation in Boone, NC, where her brother-in-law, Neil Hartman, served as Director of Physical Therapy for many years. During her twenty-seven years while at Glenbridge, Miss Patti was known to many staff as a happy and kind person with a positive attitude. Despite losing the ability to easily communicate with others in her final years, she was known for smiling when visited and blowing kisses to people as they said goodbye. Patti was loved by many staff and visitors and, despite losing a lot of her autonomy, always maintained a positive attitude.
Patricia was laid to rest on January 11, 2024 at Princess Anne Memorial Park in Virginia Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or, if you are local to Boone, NC, volunteering to visit with residents of Glenbridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Over the years, Patti was visited by many caring people from the Boone community, including student groups from Appalachian State University and various church organizations. She greatly appreciated anyone who was willing to spend time with her, especially if music was involved.
