Lonnie James Kanupp

Lonnie James Kanupp, age 76, of Lenoir passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Caldwell-UNC Healthcare Hospital. He was born on March 14, 1948 in Caldwell County to the late William A. Kanupp and Nellie McRary Kanupp.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. William A. Kanupp and Nellie M. Kanupp, one brother, Marvin Kanupp, one sister Barbara Kanupp White and her husband Hayden G. White, and one niece Kimberly D. Kanupp.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Melissa Kanupp Smith and husband Keith of Watauga County, his three grandchildren Roger Smith, Cassandra Smith Pearson and husband Travis, Brittany Smith and two very special great-grandchildren Kaden and Karter Pearson whom he loved very much, his brother Claude "Coot" G. Kanupp and his wife Judy of Hickory, N.C. his sister Vickey Kanupp Isaacs and husband A.F. of Watauga County, and many cousins, nieces and nephews whom were very special to him.

Pastor Allan Perry will officiate the graveside service.

The funeral will be private. He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.

Visitation will occur on Sunday, July 7th from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.
