Kenneth Ray Harmon Sr., 69 of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Orange County, California on January 7, 1948 to the late Jeff D. Harmon and Vivian Snow Harmon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Thomas Harmon.
Kenneth was a loving and devoted husband, son, father and grandfather. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam and he received two purple hearts during his service. Kenneth was an avid fisherman and he loved fishing from the piers at the beach, one of his favorite places and he loved the outdoors in general.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 39 years, Dawn Arnold Harmon of the home, a son; Kenneth Harmon Jr. and wife Andi of Gainesville, Georgia, daughters; Tammi Gansert of Georgetown, Kentucky, Tina Sommers of Rockaway, New Jersey, two brothers; JD Harmon of Columbus, Georgia David Harmon of Stuart, Florida, two sisters; Karen Spencer of Columbus, Georgia and Lorie Garner of Weeki Wachee, Florida.
Also left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
A memorial service to honor Mr. Harmon will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the chapel at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home at 5:00 pm with Reverend Keith Gilliam officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
