Karen was born in Caldwell County to James Kelly Parsons and Helen Melton Parsons of Stanley, NC. She was the Director of Social Services for Alexander County, a member of Smokey Mountain Mental Health Center Board, member of the North Carolina Social Services Association, North Carolina Association of County Directors of Social Services of which she was president in 2007, Alexander County Smart Start Board, Alexander County Domestic Violence Resource Center Board, The Work Force Development Board, Commissioners Task Force for Healthy Alexandrians, Western Piedmont Regional Transit Authority Advisory Board and FEMA Board. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Gardner-Webb University and continued her education at the Chapel Hill School of Government. She was an active member of North Catawba Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Charles Eugene Hoyle of the home; her son, Jared Wayne Hoyle and wife Niki Ammons Hoyle of Hendersonville; her daughter, Jaimee Hoyle Lowman and husband, Lelin “Randy” Lowman of Clemmons; five grandchildren, Phillip Austin Hoyle, Ava Nikole Hoyle, Davis Randolph Lowman, Clark Jameson-Boaz Lowman and Landis Claire Lowman; brothers, Steve Parsons of Stanley, Larry Parsons of Cherryville and Jody Parsons of Mt. Holly, and a sister, Kelly Henry of Gastonia.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at College Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Atkins officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the Hoyle family requests that memorials be made to “Karen’s Kids”, to assist needy children, c/o Alexander County DSS, 604 7th St. SW, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
