Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Fox was born September 3, 1941 in Caldwell County to the late John Thad Fox Sr. and Hattie Mask Fox Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Simmons, Barbara Crump and Martha Coffey,
While we have lost our Dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master of sarcastic humor and a man who loved his scratch off tickets. Once you were marked important to him, he would be by your side if you ever needed him. It was his wish that we laugh, reminisce and smile together during this time.
John's journey from serving in the United States Navy to his versatile career with Greenline Construction Company marked his unwavering dedication and strong work ethic. During the late 1960's to early 1970's, John played semi-pro baseball with the Shurpack Oilers. John was very active in the American Legion Post 29 baseball program. He was a member or the Dysart-Kendall American Legion Post 29 for many years as well as serving for several years on the Post 29 baseball committee. He was the athletic Director for Post 29 in 1990. In 1990, the baseball team at Post 29 won the North Carolina American Legion Championship. In addition to his love for baseball, he also loved playing golf.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Teresa Bentley (Joey) of Lenoir, a son, Thad Fox of Greer, SC, a sister, Ann Marie Epps of Winston Salem, two grandchildren, Jordan Kirby of Lenoir, Jacob Taylor of Lenoir, a step-son, Greg Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, a stepdaughter, Debbie Johnson Ammerman of Winston Salem.
