Mr. Jack Lindsay Pennell, 82 of Lenoir passed away on December 24, 2021 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare in Lenoir. Mr. Pennell was born on May 26, 1939 in Alexander County to the late Gus and Winnie Grubb Pennell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Virginia Moore Pennell, 4 brothers: George, Ruben, Lynn, Jay Pennell, 1 sister; Judy Holsclaw.
Mr. Pennell was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather. He was very proud of his children and his grandchildren and loved the time he spent with them. Jack was an avid deer hunter, a proud NASCAR fan and loved listening to bluegrass music. Mr. Pennell retired after serving for more than 30 years as a truck driver for Broyhill Furniture.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Rickey Dale Pennell and wife Janet (Teeny) of Lenoir, Scott Alan Pennell of Lenoir, and Jack William Pennell and wife Joy of Hickory; three grandchildren, Justin Pennell and wife Hollie, Jayden Pennell, Jansen Pennell; 2 great grandchildren, Branson and Maverick and 3 sisters, Martha Cheek of Advance, Alvania Starnes of Bethlehem and Elsie Bentley and husband Larry of Taylorsville.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Jack’s brother-in-law, Mr. Trev Moore officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Zion Methodist Church on Blue Creek Road. Serving as pallbearers will be David Huskins, Tracy Hall, Harley Hamby, Jayden, Justin and Branson Pennell.
The family will receive friends for 2 hours prior to the service, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
