Mrs. Evangeline Woodie McGee, 81, of Lenoir entered into her Heavenly home on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from her home. . Mrs. McGee was born December 2, 1940 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Leonard and Ella Mae Beach Woodie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence McGee, a sister, Lena Setzer, brother, Clifton Woodie, a brother-in-law, Ted Setzer, Nephew, Ricky Setzer and two great nephews, Jody Auton and Little Clifton Woodie.
Mrs. McGee was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her family and her church were the two most important things in her life. Mrs. McGee retired from Wilson, Palmer, Lackey and Rohr where she served as the office manager for approximately 25 years. Prior to working at the Lawyer office, she was a realtor and babysitter while her daughter was in school. During her babysitting years, she loved and cared for many children in the community of Oak Hill.
Mrs McGee was very active in her church before she became ill. She was a Sunday School teacher, was in the choir, and served on many various committees.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cynthia Roland and husband Joseph Neal of Lenoir, grandson, Joseph Scott Roland and wife Hannah of_Taylorsville, two great-grandsons, Bryson Isaiah and Joseph Jade, two sisters, Janice Caraway and husband Lawrence and Kay Rhodes, both of Morganton.
A funeral service to honor Mrs. McGee will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Union Baptist Church in Lenoir with Rev., Mark Robinette officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bradley Woodie, Chad Rhodes, Robert Richards, Mike Curry, Jobe Harbison, and Kevin Richards.
The family would also like to give special recognition to the caregivers who made it possible for her to stay in her home: Angela Coonse, Michelle Curry, Loretta Storie, Montana Coonse, Nicole Robinson, Annette Fultz, and Teresa Gryner.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Union Baptist Church.
