Chad McCrary, age 51, went to be with Jesus early Sunday morning on May 15, 2022. He had experienced a sudden serious illness that took his life much too quickly from those that love him so much. He was born November 22, 1970 to Dennis McCrary Jr. and Barbara Boston Dillard.
If you met Chad once, you were his buddy, and he had lots of buddies! Chad was always smiling and loved everyone! And he never forgot anyone he met. If you went to elementary school with him and he saw you out anywhere, he would come home, get out his annuals from 30 years earlier and recognize and show us your picture. His joy was contagious! To see him worship was truly inspiring to so many! In spite of his challenging limitations, he had a deep spiritual connection to the Lord that was so evident in everything he did. And even though seizures kept him from no longer attending church, he never missed out on singing and worshipping on Sunday morning with the messages on tv.
Chad lived at home with his parents, Dennis and Carolyn McCrary, where his daily routines were to watch “Home Alone” and “Wheel of Fortune”. He also liked to paint, sing, talk on the phone, watch the birds, and in the summer time he loved to swim in the pool, and have all the kids tickle his feet. His favorite foods were chicken nuggets and biscuits and gravy, and he always had a glass of water sitting beside him.
Chad loved people! His family of friends spread far. Those left to fill the void are his parents, father, Dennis McCrary and Carolyn; mother, Barbara Dillard and Jerry; sister, Summer Ritchie and husband, Chase; step sisters, Shanna Rogers and Danny, Kim Malcolm and Scott, Amy Dunford and David; nieces and nephews, Rylei Ritchie, Peightyn Ritchie, Justin Fuller and Kayla, Cadence and Breece Dunford, Chase, Austin, and Ryley Dunford, Addilynn, Everly and Grayson Fuller, and many aunts and uncles.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, May 18th beginning at 3:00 PM with service following at 4:00 PM at Waterlife Church, 1007 Morganton Blvd, SW in Lenoir, NC. Graveside service will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
