Carl P. Pless

Mr. Carl P. Pless, 78, of Lenoir, passed away August 27, 2012 after several months of declining health. He was born November 14, 1933 to the late Joseph Willard Pless and Annie Causby Pless of Morganton NC.

Mr. Pless was an Avid Baseball fan and a great admirer of Madison Bumgarner of the San Francisco Giants. He was a co-founder of Tilley’s Superette Located in the Union Grove Community. Mr. Pless was treasurer of North Catawba Baptist Church for 40 years. He was also a Veteran of The Korean conflict.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant son Mark Scott Pless.

Mr. Pless is survived by his wife of 55 years Shirley Tilley Pless and a son Michael R. Pless and wife LeAnn C. Pless; two sisters, Mary Cathrine Pless and Helen Pless Parris of Morganton; a brother, William Pless of Morganton. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Jennifer Pless Biddix and Jessica Pless Saders.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012 at North Catawba Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Doug St. John and Reverend Ned Webb officiating. Burial will follow at North Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
