Bobby Gene Story

Bobby Gene Story, 79, of Lenoir passed away Friday, May 9th 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.

Mr. Story was born in Caldwell County on June 19th, 1934 to the late John Howard Story and Maggie Borders Story. Mr. Story was retired from the Lenoir Fire Department. He also worked for Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir where he served as a deacon for many years.

In addition to his parents, Bobby Story is preceded in death by two brothers, James Simmons and Charles Story; and one sister Carolyn Story Parker.

Those left to the cherish the memory of Bobby Gene Story include his wife of 58 years, Letha “Tiny” Huffman Story of the home; one daughter Teresa Story Brakefield and husband Gary of Lenoir; two sons Johnny Story and wife Dianne of Catawba, NC and Kenny Story and wife Beth of Lenoir, NC; six grandchildren, Spring Brakefield Greene of Lenoir, Luke Brakefield and wife Katie of Lenoir, Lacy Story Greene and husband Jarrett of Lenoir, Jared Story of North Wilkesboro, Katie Story of Lenoir, and Kennedy Story of Lenoir; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Greene, Abigail Greene, Isaiah Greene, and Hattie Brakefield, one sister Vivian Laws and Husband Jimmy of Lenoir, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family of Bobby Story will receive friends on Monday May, 12th, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir. Funeral Services for Mr. Story will be held on Tuesday, May 13th, 2014 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Alan Carr and Rev. Luke Brakefield officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Sam Smith, Kenny Nelson, Tyrone Sturgis, Jimmy Farr, Bart Severt, and Paul Woods. Members of the Lenoir Fire Department will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
