Barbara Ann Smith

Barbara Ann Hollar Smith, of Hudson, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Shaire Center in Lenoir. Barbara was born February 25, 1936 in Caldwell County to the late Boyd and Bertie Mask Hollar.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edfin and Wayne Hollar, three sisters, Carol Dean Hice, Christine Benfield and Dorothy Randall and a great granddaughter, Zoey Elizabeth McCormick.

Barbara was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially the grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening and took great pride in her yard, she also enjoyed sewing and making quilts for her family. Barbara worked as a cosmetology instructor at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute for over twenty years. She was member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hudson, was active at the Caldwell Senior Center and also volunteered at the Lenoir Soup Kitchen.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of forty years, Robert Smith of the home, daughters, Cindy Lackey of Granite Falls, Joye Clontz and husband David of Hampstead, stepdaughter Suzanne Penland and husband Ronnie of Kernersville, her stepsons, Stephen Smith and wife Christine of Boone and Greg Smith and wife Paula of Wilmington.

Also left to cherish her memory are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held privately.
