Amber Lynn Nelson, age 30, of Ferguson, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family at Duke University Medical Center. Amber was born March 30, 1994 in Burke County to Mandy Royal and Steven Nelson.
Preceding her in death are her maternal grandparents, Frank and Linda Price, paternal grandfather, Stan Nelson and an uncle, Johnnie Upchurch.
Amber was a one of a kind person, competitive, always smiling, never complaining and she loved to travel, especially to the beach. She loved her family with all her heart and enjoyed her time with them. Amber graduated from Hibriten High School in 2014. Amber has been a real trooper for the past 18 years, making the best of life after being diagnosed with brain cancer at 13 years old.
Those left to cherish her memory include her parents, Mandy and Terry Royal of the home, grandmother, Myra Nelson of Lenoir, father, Steven Nelson of Lenoir, one aunt Frankie Upchurch of Wilmington, two uncles, Paul Price of Wilmington, Chad Nelson of Lenoir and a step-sister, Kimberly Royal of Lenoir. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service to honor Amber will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Lee officiating. Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Ames, Greg Winkler, Douglas Small, Elijah Small, Kenny Murphy, Chad Murphy, Steven Price and Cole Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Ames IV, Austin Price and Dalton Ames.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:45 pm until 2:45 pm at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.
