Marion Irene (Brooks, Benson) Jensen died from complications of CHF on Saturday, October 19, 2013, in Lemon Grove, CA. She was 92. She was born in Springfield, MA in 1921, and lived in that area until moving to San Diego in 1963. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Jensen, who died in 1993. She will be interred with Henry at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
Surviving are two sisters, Muriel Couture of Springfield, MA and Ruth David of San Diego, CA; a brother Richard Brooks of West Swanzey, NH; a son, Donald H. (Sandra) Benson of El Cajon; a daughter Debbie J. (James) Everett of Poway; four grandchildren, Michael (Lynn) Benson of Livermore, Michelle (Michael) Lepetri, of Alpine, Christopher (Tiffany) Everett of Encinitas, and Emily (Edward) Drury of Scripps Ranch; eight great-grandchildren, Corinne Benson, Nicholas, Andrew, Kaitlyn, and Caleb Lepetri, Braiden, Holden, and Copeland Everett. She is also survived by cousins in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
In her professional life Marion was a bookkeeper. She also established her own business, Marion's Cattery, raising siamese cats. Once retired, she took great pride and joy in being a volunteer with Kaiser Hospital. She also was a lector in her church. Her favorite activity was spending time with family, especially with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Once macular degeneration overtook her eyesight, the simple pleasure of sitting on her front porch listening to birds and enjoying the beauty of her yard brought her great joy. She will be remembered for her beauty, strength, intelligence, and generosity.
