Kenneth Ray Hensley

Kenneth Ray Hensley was born on January 5, 1930 in Paris, Texas. He was the son of Edith Permilia Curtis and Ollie Earl Hensley and the brother of five siblings, Lee, Geraldine, Curtis, his twin sister Katherine, and Juan. At age twelve Kent and his family moved to California. He graduated from Salinas Valley High School in 1949, where he met his wife, the love of his life Wanda Lou Dugger. He and Wanda were married in 1950 and together had three daughters, Omeda Kay, Janet Sue and Gina Lou. Kenneth was a veteran of the Korean War, where he honorably served our country as an Army medic for three years.

Kenneth was a carpenter by trade, worked for Los Angeles County for 30 years and retired as a Buildings Craft Manager for Olive View Medical Center in 1992. However these are just some facts about this wonderful man and cannot begin to describe the true Kenneth Hensley that we all knew and adored. He was a Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, who touched the lives of countless people who were fortunate enough to meet him. He loved Jesus with all his heart and was a lifelong Christian dedicated to living a Godly life and leading his family to serve the Lord. He selflessly used his talents for the Lord and became a builder of churches. He built, repaired and worked on over fourteen churches throughout the course of his life. In 1993 he traveled to West Africa where he played a key role in building a church and pews for a local church in the Ivory Coast.

Kenneth enjoyed doing just about anything as long as it included his family. He sponsored grandkids' sporting teams, attended countless baseball and football games and throughly enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He loved gathering together with his family, enjoying a good meal playing for hours of board games and was generally accepted as the domino champion of the family.

Kenneth loved his family with complete and total dedication. He was the gentle, compassionate and loving patriarch of our family. He is survived by his daughters Omeda Kay and Janet Sue, his sisters Geraldine and Katherine, his brother Juan, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Although he will be greatly missed, we rejoice and celebrate the wonderful life he led and are reassured, through the promises of our Lord, that we will meet him again some wonderful day when we join him in making heaven our home.
