Elizabeth M. Ball

Betty Ball passed away on March 20, 2013 at the age of 91. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was born July 3, 1921 in Hornell, New York, youngest of the three daughters of John and Jessie Brady. She married William J. “Bill” Ball in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 31, 1941 and moved to San Diego, California in 1943. Bill Ball served in the US Army from 1941-1945.

Bill and Betty moved to Lemon Grove, California in 1952 and lived there for the remainder of their 69 years of marriage. Bill passed away in 2010. Betty was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Agnes Carrity, of Dayton Ohio, and Mildred Brady, of Johnson City, New York. Betty Ball is survived by her four children, William J. “Jim” Ball of Cincinnati, Ohio, and his wife Nancy, John G. Ball of Whittier California and his wife Edna, Eileen F. “Kippi” Stolz of Northglenn, Colorado, and Stephen D. Ball of El Cajon, California and his wife Pauline, and her niece, Dolores Hoak of Dayton, Ohio. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty was a music teacher at Lemon Grove Junior High School for many years and active in the choir and bell choir of their family church, Trinity Presbyterian, in Spring Valley, California. She was both interested and talented in many arts and crafts, including macramé, watercolor painting, and quilting. Betty and Bill loved camping and hiking in the National Parks and wilderness areas. They travelled extensively after retirement, visiting every state in the USA, and much of Canada. Betty will be missed by many.

A memorial service for Betty will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3902 Kenwood Drive, Spring Valley, California, at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 23, 2013. All who knew her and loved her are welcome to attend. Her ashes will be joined with those of her beloved husband in a private ceremony at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery the following day.
