Horace Wayne Crowe, 78 of Moody, Alabama passed away in his home surrounded by family Wednesday, February 10, 2021 after his 5-year battle of Alzheimer’s / Lewy Body Dementia. Wayne was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a First Lieutenant of the United States Army serving as an intelligence officer, earning a Silver Star and Bronze Star. Wayne’s family formed Crowe Brothers Logging Company where he worked with his brothers for 33 years. Those who knew Wayne knew him to be a Christian man who was humble and quiet in nature. He was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Horace and Bernice Crow and his sister Doris Stanley. Wayne is survived by his wife of 53 years Linda T. Crowe, son David, daughter Melinda Glidewell (Scott) sister Patsy Walker (Drennen), brothers Don (Linda) and Ken (Jan). Grandchildren are Lilly Crowe, Sophie Crowe, Charlie Kitts, Blake Glidewell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Wayne will be held Monday, February 15, 2021 at First Baptist of Moody. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with service at noon. Wayne will be laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama, Moody Police Department, Moody Fire Department and First Baptist Church of Moody.
