Nelda J Fox

Nelda Jean Fox, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 28th of 2023, at home in Ashville, Alabama. Nelda was born in Beacon, Tennessee, on October 6th, 1933, to Marcus DeLafayette Graves and Anna Letha (Alexander) Graves. She lived in Tennessee until she married Jesse Fox on June 17th, 1968, and moved to Alabama.

She lived her almost 90 years on this earth sharing God’s love with all she met. As the wife of a pastor and Sunday school teacher for many years, the impact of Nelda’s life will be felt for years to come. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and was loved and admired by many. Nelda loved being with her family and celebrating any special day or event. She found beauty in the world around her at every turn. She loved to grow plants and take care of her flowers. She also enjoyed being outside observing the birds and hummingbirds and all of God’s beautiful creation.

She is survived by her sister, Lawana June Everett; her son, Marion (Margie) Fox; her grandchildren Brandy Fox, Jerald Jones, Brian (Tree) Jones, Jonathan (Angie) Jackson, and Katie (Kevin) Hanson. Along with her great grandchildren, Sarahbella Fox, Levi Hanson, Isabella Davidson, and Lanie Burns and a great-great granddaughter Allie Cofer; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jesse M. Fox; daughters Carol Jackson and Sandra Eden; siblings Howell F. Graves, Ray J. Graves, Milford A. Graves, Barney M. Graves, and Josephine E. Ferguson; and her parents M. D. and Letha Graves.

The family would like to thank Shelby Kong’a, Teresa Harden, Sheyanne Trammell, Tiffany Coker, Hanna Phillips, and Lakeside Hospice for caring for Nelda in her last few months. The family would also like to thank Martin and Nancy Windham. It is with great appreciation that they cared for this amazing woman -- our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Service will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, AL on Monday October 2nd 2023 at 1:00 PM with Burial in Branchville Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday October 2, 2023 from 12-1 at Kilgroe Funeral Home - Leeds
