peacefully at her residence on July 18, 2024. Jamie was born on March 29, 1957 to
proud parents, James and Carolyn Standifer. She attended St. Clair County High
School where she showcased her talents as a member of the Stepping Saints and
became the first majorette to twirl a fire baton at SCCHS. Jamie was a very involved
student with many accomplishments, including Runner Up-Miss May Day, Alternate
County Best Model, Senior Who’s Who, participant in the Senior play, Jr. Class
Secretary, Top ¼ Senior Class, Miss F.H.A., Homecoming Court, Vice President, and
member of the Pep Club, S.A.E., Library Club, Annual Staff, and Class of 1975
Reunion Committee. Jamie was a great asset to her employers over the years serving
in various administrative roles. She was devoted to her family, and as a proud Nonna,
she prioritized spending time with her grandchildren and making special memories
, including enlisting their help every Thanksgiving to bake her grandmother’s famous
Red Velvet Cake. She made an effort to let her children and grandchildren know she
loved them daily. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, which
she attended since infancy. Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, James and
Carolyn Standifer. She is survived by her husband, Richard Mizzell; brother, Jacky
Standifer; children, Stacey Wadsworth Jackson, Wesley Wadsworth, Dewayne
Mizzell (Angel), Steven Mizzell (Leah); grandchildren, Brooklyn Jackson, Skylar
Mizzell, Brody Mizzell, Canaan Jackson, Ridley Wadsworth, Banks Mizzell, Lily
Ann Mizzell; nieces, Nicole Standifer, Ashley Watkins (Dan), and Anna Merchant
(Erin). Visitation will be on Monday, July 22, 1:00-3:00, at Kilgroe Funeral Home in
Leeds, AL, followed by a Celebration of her life at 3:00 at the same location. Jamie’s
selflessness and unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire and comfort
us.
