Bruce and Betty, with their sons, Kerr and Douglas, immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta in 1975. Following the move, they welcomed their third son, Greg. Bruce and Betty moved to Leduc, Alberta in 1977. Bruce worked as a welder in the oil industry until his retirement in 2013. Bruce was a Mason, active in the Leduc Chapter reaching the position of Master. He later became a Shriner, participating in parades across Alberta. He and Betty enjoyed many friendships through their involvement with the Masons, Shriners and Eastern Star. After retiring, Bruce and Betty became snowbirds, spending winters in Las Colinas, Arizona and summers at Pipestone Golf Course near Millet where they made many new and lasting friendships. Bruce loved golf, traveling, and a glass of good scotch.
Bruce leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Betty, three sons Kerr (Shelley), Douglas (Lise), and Greg (Bonnie), 4 grandchildren, Alixandra, Ethan (Dawn), McKayla, and Zachary, great grandson, Quinley, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Jean, his brother, James, and his sisters Isabel and Margaret.
A celebration of life will be held on August 31st at 1pm at St. David’s United Church, Leduc. A reception at the Leduc Masonic Hall, 4706 46 Avenue, will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
