Keith was born in Wetaskiwin, AB on December 14, 1943 to Jean and Arnold McKinney. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Vi, his daughters Shelley and Tammy, and his granddaughters Karissa (Travis) and Megan, as well as siblings Glen, Dale, Joan and Gwen. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings Lyle, Allan, Murray, Wade, Sharon and Brian.
Keith was proud of being both a millwright by trade and a farmer at heart. Keith got his millwright ticket in 1974 and after a stint at Sherritt Gordon, he moved to Labatt, where he stayed until 2014. Keith was involved in the community – he was a town councillor, a church councillor, a volunteer firefighter, volunteer chaperone at community dances, and played hockey with the “old boys” team; he contributed to the trades in Alberta as a member of the Apprenticeship Board.
Keith had a deep well of kindness and was generous with his time and energy - he was always willing to lend a hand, lend an ear, or share his knowledge and experience.
He loved his "girls" - his wife, daughters, and granddaughters. He had a soft spot for animals, big and small, and they returned his affection. Keith loved being outside, whether working on a project, on the tractor, being around animals, or just enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. He loved to travel and experience new places.
Following Keith's wishes, a private service will be held for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada or the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation.
