Jack Roy Robinson was born on May 22, 1947 - the third child born to Lloyd and Annie Robinson of the Strawberry Community near Thorsby, AB. Jack attended the Strawberry school house until he went to high school in Thorsby. After graduating from high school, Jack attended Olds College and then went back to farming on his parent’s farm, where he married Marilyn Sommers on October 24, 1969. They had two children, Tina and Richard who were raised on a farm in the Strawberry Community not far from the farm he was raised on. Jack went to Nait in his 30s to become an electrician and worked in that field, as well as farming until 1995 when they sold the farm and moved into Thorsby. It was shortly before this that Jack was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and could no longer farm. Jack loved his cows and animals on the farm and missed them dearly. Jack and Marilyn resided in Thorsby for 10 years and then moved to a condo in Leduc that had less maintenance as Jack’s disease had been continuously progressing over the years. In 2009 Jack was admitted to the Leduc Extendicare where he needed more extensive care as his disease progressed, and in that same year Jack’s son, Richard, passed away. Then in 2012 his wife, Marilyn, also passed away. The Extendicare staff became Jack’s family over the years and he and his daughter were always grateful for the excellent care he received. Jack remained in the Leduc Extendicare until his passing on November 9, 2017.
Jack is survived by his loving family: daughter Tina (Greg) Pringle, sister Margueritte, grandchildren Matthew and Dylan Pringle, Christian Holgate, Riley and Connor Robinson, mother-in-law Laura Sommers, brothers-in-law Ellerey (Lorraine) Sommers and Marvin (Candace) Sommers, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. Jack was predeceased by his wife Marilyn, son Richard, parents Lloyd and Annie, father-in-law Walter, sister and brother-in-law Marie (Herb) Wegner, and brother-in-law Willard. Jack will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
