Grace Frances Keough Vincent

May 13, 1922 – July 5, 2014

Grace Frances Vincent, 92, of Leduc, Alberta, a woman of passion and action, passed away peacefully in Leduc Community Hospital on July 5, 2014.

She was born to the late Frank and Teresa Keough, May 13, 1922, in Drumheller, Alberta. Grace graduated from Drumheller High School in 1940 and received her teacher’s certificate from Normal School in Calgary, Ab in 1942. She married the late Lionel Harvey Vincent on June 5, 1945, and they lived together in Lac La Biche, Alberta.

Grace taught grades 1 – 8 in Normandeau, Alberta for the Irene School District where she was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. She left teaching to become a full time mother in 1946. Grace was a passionate, loving and kind mother who led by example in her personal life and in her public service. She was a role model for caring and excellence. She returned to teaching part-time for a few years in the 1970’s.

Grace was an active member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Parish, Catholics Women’s League (CWL), the Hospital Auxiliary and the Parish Choir.

Left to celebrate Grace’s legacy and continue to follow her example are her five children: Pat and Sally Vincent, of Beaumont, Ab; Richard and Veronica Vincent, of Victoria, B.C.; Dave and Janine Vincent, of Oakville, On; James and Nichola Vincent of Chicago, Ill.; and Mary and Kevin Rozema, of Leduc, Ab. She also is survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Grace is survived by her sister Gladys and her husband Vic Patterson, of Edmonton, Ab; and Frank Keough of Red Deer, Ab.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the Leduc Community Hospital for the compassionate care Grace received.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in Grace’s memory be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation or to the charity of one’s choice.

Respecting Grace’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life with a Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Lac La Biche, Alberta on Aug 12, 2014 1 pm.
