It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of James Sharun at the age of 50, on January 11, 2024, in Leduc, AB. Surrounded by those he held dear, James peacefully departed this world, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
James is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Frankie and children, Taylor (22), Ethan (21), and Aidan (19). His parents, Mauri and Andy Sharun. Siblings, Sandi Hoppins (Raymond), Tara Dunsmore (Patrick), Sean Sharun (Melissa), and Scott Sharun (Kaytee). Along with many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Born in Vegreville, AB, on September 27, 1973, James lived life to the fullest. He was a supportive husband, a protective father and a loving son and brother. He was a reflective thinker, full of happiness and humour, and always ready with a sharp wisecrack. James lived his life with integrity and was a man of diverse passions, he found joy in officiating hockey, pursuing the art of fly fishing, and creating lasting memories with his family and friends. His dedication to community service was evident through his roles as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. James was passionate about contributing to grassroots hockey, mentoring and making an indelible mark on aspiring officials. Additionally, James furthered his education with a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from NAIT and worked in the field for 27 years.
James exuded unwavering love, optimism, generosity, and wore a contagious smile that brightened the lives of those around him.
A memorial service to celebrate James' life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sherwood Park, AB, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Canada or to the Cross Cancer Institute, both were close to James' heart.
As we navigate the profound loss of James, let us remember him with love and gratitude for the remarkable person he was. May his soul find eternal peace and may the cherished memories we hold dear provide solace during this difficult time.
