David Elihu Pleet passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in the Cornwall Manor Health center. He was born in February 24, 1932, the son of Paul and Marthe Pleet. David's beloved wife of 67 years, Marilyn, passed away on May 29, 2021. He is survived by his son, Jesse; a daughter, Tracy Pleet Troain, married to Kevin; and a son, Alec, married to Kanokwan. David is survived by four granddaughters: Mollie Pleetanino married to Anthony, Anna Pleet married to Federico Girotti, Lyndsay Leone (Troain) Royal married to John, and Rachel (Pleet) Sayag married to Yehonatan. He is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Madelynn Tracy Royal. He attended Syracuse University majoring in Business Administration, meeting his future wife, Marilyn David as a freshman. They graduated together in 1953 and married 6 days later June 7, 1953, at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC. The passing of David's grandfather, Isadore Lawn, in 1954, who owned a men's store called Lawn Bros., Inc., brought David and Lynn to Lebanon to take over the business, eventually established in 1961 as Lawn's Clothing Store, Inc., a staple in downtown Lebanon from 1899 until its closure in 1984. David began a second successful career at the former Butcher & Singer in 1984 and retired as a senior financial consultant for Wells Fargo Advisors in 2014. David was a lifetime avid skier. He served on the National Ski Patrol from 1949 until 1994 earning a national award for longest consecutive volunteer service. David and several Lebanon friends built, owned, and operated a small ski area on some slopeside farmland near Summit Station, Schuylkill County 1958-1960. David was a founding member of the Flying Dutchmen Ski Club in Berks County and belonged to several other ski clubs in the region. David and Lynn took several weeks each year throughout the 1960's skiing in Europe and thereafter continued traveling worldwide but did most of their alpine skiing in the Western USA. David was a local authority on travelling abroad and around the USA. He was a lifetime member of the Lion's Club, serving as a director and president plus numerous other offices over the years. David last attended a club meeting in December 2023. He was granted Honorary Member status in 2022. David was a devoted member of Congregation Beth Israel in Lebanon since moving here in 1954. David was an accomplished private pilot, first learning to fly in 1968. David was a generous benefactor of his community, as was his late wife, supporting Lebanon Valley College, the Lebanon County Libraries, Congregation Beth Israel, Lebanon Lions Club, and numerous other charities over the years. He was a loving, caring, devoted husband, son, and father. A legacy was the family trips he sponsored every year with his children and grandchildren, especially ski trips out west to pass along his passion for skiing. He encouraged and supported education for his children and grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Thursday February 22, 2024 at 1:00pm in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon with interment to follow in Beth Israel Cemetery.
