Born on October 15th, 1918 in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Cornealius and Elizabeth Cullen Conahan. Cecelia was a graduate of Hazelton High School, and worked for Bell Telephone following graduation. She started with Bell as a switch board operator, and worked her way up to chief telephone operator. On October 4th, 1952 she married Harry Weiss, and they went into business together owning Wise Amusements, as well as a number of other local businesses throughout the years. They welcomed three daughters into the world; Elizabeth Ann Weiss Jones, Sharon Eileen Weiss, and Sheila Weiss Cutshall.
Cecelia enjoyed life with her husband and children vacationing at the beach, The Chesapeake Bay, volunteering at local community services, gardening, crocheting, and playing Mahjong. As a charter member of the Soroptimist Club, and member for over 50 years; Cecelia helped improve the lives of women and girls by social and economic empowerment. A devout member of St. Mary’s Parish in Lebanon, Cecelia always looked on the bright side of things; she was positive, friendly, cheerful, and dearly loved by everyone from immediate family to mere acquaintances.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her brothers Francis and Robert, and sister Nancy Conahan Bean. Surviving are her three daughters, six grandchildren (Shannon Jones Luzzatto, Alanna Jones Bouffard, Sean Michael Jones, Aubrey Teresa Jones, Megan Cutshall Barbor, and Nathan Thomas Cutshall), and seven great grandchildren (Andrew, Jacob, Gregory, and Joshua Luzzatto, Zachary & Evan Jones, and Blake Barbor).
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2 North 8th St., Lebanon, PA. Funeral mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please contribute to a charity of your choice. The Rohland Funeral Home, Lebanon is handling the arrangements.
