Margit Aloisia Hill

Margit is survived by her husband Joe Hill, her former spouse William Turner father of daughter, Tanya Avery, Tanya’s spouse Leonard Avery, granddaughter, Zora Avery, son Justin Turner, , siblings Alfred Bernhard, Alfred’s spouse Mariana and children (nieces) Karin Bernhard, Christa Jud, Christa’s spouse Markus Jud, son Andreas Jud, Ernst Bernhard, Ernst’s spouse Marianne Bernhard and daughter (niece) Elke Bernhard. She is preceded in death by her parents Josef Bernhard and Katharina Bernhard (Goffitzer) of Winklern, Austria.

Margit Hill was the youngest of three children born to Josef and Katharina Bernhard in the quaint Austrian Alps town of Lienz on July 30, 1952. Throughout Margit’s adolescent years you could find her skiing in the mountains, picking berries while hiking through lush meadows and sharing memories with her older brothers and close friends. Margit attended and completed public school and entered into a polytechnical institute to become a hairstylist. Margit loved to travel, and her exceptional skill provided her opportunities to work in some of the most picturesque towns in the world throughout Switzerland, Germany, and California. While living in Switzerland and Germany, Margit found prominent success modeling as a young adult, but her true passion was to give back to others and bring joy through her incredible talents as a beautician and close relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While living and working in the state of Washington, she testified before the state legislature requesting that they repeal the law for immigrants to attend formal professional training in their state before being allowed to work in their chosen profession. After hearing her testimony, the legislature repealed the law. Margit was a beautician for over 50 years working in highly rated salons throughout Europe prior to moving to the United States and continuing her illustrious career in California, Washington, and Texas. After arriving in Texas, her skill, determination, and drive to succeed was rewarded by owning a thriving beauty salon where she brought joy to clients, many who became lifelong friends.

Margit and Joe met through mutual friends, and their friends’ intuition to believe they were made for each other was confirmed when they were married in 2008. Their faith, love for each other, their family and friends made their lives complete. Margit loved studying the Bible, her church, reading and family gatherings. She found great peace enjoying nature by walking, riding bikes and simply relaxing outside. Margit always had an adventurous side and enjoyed traveling to the mountains, beaches and experiencing all the wonderful cultures and people she came across. However, the most important thing to Margit was living each day to the fullest with a passion to give back to others and lead a God-fearing life in all that she did.

Margit held many titles throughout her life but if you ask her the last two and a half years provided the best title of all, OMI! Margit loved being an Omi to her beautiful granddaughter Zora who brought constant smiles, laughter and pleasure throughout her final years to close out the final chapter to a blessed and fulfilled life.

A graveside service for Margit is scheduled for 2pm, December 11, 2023, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 Tx-195, Killeen, TX 76542. Reception to follow at charis Church, 1401 E. Elms Road , Killeen, Tx 76542. There will also be a memorial service at 2pm, December 16, 2023, at Upwards Church, 8754 Ranch to Market Road 2243, Leander, Texas.
