Glenn was a devoted husband who was happy to be at home and surrounded by family. He was a proud father and grandfather who was loved by his family and so many others. He modeled generosity and humility as he served others over the years, whether it was helping to deliver food to a community food pantry, being a church usher, or simply working on a handyman project at someone’s house.
Glenn also enjoyed fellowship and serving alongside his home church family in recent years, and his happiest hobbies included bow hunting, arrowhead collecting, watching college football, especially the LSU Tigers, researching his ancestry, and spending time with family.
Glenn served aboard the USS Shelton while in the Navy during the Vietnam War, 1965 - 1969, as a Boiler Technician. He retired from Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) in 2007 with 38 years of service.
Glenn Gates was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Edith Howell, and father, Claude Warren Gates. He is survived by his wife, Dale Suzanne Gates, son Galen Gates (Lauri), and stepchildren Amie Pierce (Paige) and Marc Scott (Nannette), and grandchildren, Hannah, Preslee, and Emerson, along with siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews.
