Now that she is with the Lord, she can ask him the question that she saved for Him her entire life as a mother…”Why did you bless me with three boys?” And I am sure his answer will be, “ To remind you that sons need a mother’s strength and love and that you will always be your son’s first example of love. This, I am sure, will bring her sole great happiness, knowing that God trusted her with such an honor.
Carolyn was born on August 7, 1939 in Seattle, Texas (now known as Fort Hood). She later moved to Houston, where she met and married the love of her life, Johnny Mack Anderson. Later in life helping him establish and build Stairways, Inc. while at the same time managing the home, three kids and all that came with it.
Carolyn was a proud and loving mother who thrived in that role. She was the mother of her three sons, giving them the love, nurture and disciple, they needed to be the men they are today. And then with all that experience, she mastered the role of grandmother to her 10 grandchildren. She might have spoiled them a little, but at the same time engrained in them that they were loved by her and that she thought each one of them hung the moon. She is deeply loved by all her family.
She also used her mothering skills by volunteering at Texas Children’s Hospital as a baby cuddler in the neonatal intensive care unit. These babies were sick for many reasons and Carolyn had the magical touch as she could hold, rock, sing, talk and pray to them. She had a great impact on the babies, the families, and the hospital workers. It was not a job for her as much as it was a calling.
At a young age she put her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ trusting His work on the cross to save her from her sins. Although she was not perfect, her faith did not waiver over time. In the last days of her life, her hope was in Christ and Christ alone.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her father, R.T. Adams, mother, Jamie Adams, and her sister Tommie Purbaugh.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Johnny Mack Anderson; her three sons and their wives, John Mark and wife Raelynn, John Kerry, Scott Adam and wife Tamara; grandchildren Lindsey, John Adam, John Matthew, Ty, Troy, Nicole, Amanda, Ryan, Mason and Carly; great-grandchild Skylar; sisters Estelle Adams and Priscilla Arnold and brother Tim Adams.
We will forever be left with a hole in our hearts, however it is comforting to know she is at peace with the Lord where now she is the one being cuddled. ❤️
