William G. “Bill” Reardon (Ph.D.), 82, of North Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Valley Hospital after a short illness, his wife Marlene by his side – in addition to his four surviving sons having spent countless hours with him during those final days. Bill was born September 24, 1931 in Paterson, New Jersey to William Reardon (Sr.) and Marie (nee Lanza). He had one brother, Patrick “Pat” (d. March 28, 2006). Bill graduated from (then) Montclair State Teachers College (NJ) in 1958, where he was president of the senior class. An MA from California Western University (San Diego, CA) in 1962 was followed by a Ph.D. from Indiana University in 1972. While he excelled at research and publication, his greatest professional joy was the classroom, teaching and advising students. More often than not Bill was simply known as “the Doc” to several generations of students at institutions such as St. Leo University (FL: 1972-1977), and United States International University (San Diego, CA: 1977-1983). For a time, in the mid to latter 1980s, Bill was also a senior human resources and training development executive for GC Services, LP and Hi/LO Auto Supply (now part of O’Reilly Auto Parts Group) in the Houston, TX area. After this he accepted a faculty position with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ Lee Business School until his retirement in 2001. For a number of years (1972 – 1976) William Reardon was a single father raising five sons while still maintaining the full-time faculty position at St. Leo University, (FL). His sons Scott Francis Reardon (b. December 19, 1961), Forrest Dietrich Reardon and Timothy (Tim) Thompson Reardon (twins b. October 19, 1963), Austin Brooks-Hayes Reardon (b. May 19, 1966), Drew Folsom-Alexander Reardon (b. January 14, 1968 – d. October 13, 2006) were and are eternally grateful for the strength their Dad exhibited during those years, as well his kind and consistent examples, allowing all of the brothers to grow to become successful in their own right. William Reardon is survived by Marlene, his wife of 37 years; and sons Scott, Forrest, Tim and Austin. His youngest son Drew preceded him in death (October 13, 2006). In addition to his wife and sons Bill leaves five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
