Willard Roger Pendleton, affectionately known as “Boysie,” was the fifth child born to the late Walter Scott and Bennie Jean Pendleton, on November 2, 1950, in Gary, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his only brother, Walter, Jr., and oldest sister, Beverly Jean.
Boysie was a 1969 graduate of Roosevelt High School, in Gary, Indiana. He attended Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL and soon relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Boysie was employed as a Correctional Officer for the State of New Mexico where he gained the respect of the inmates. He finished his employment as a Coordinator for Security at Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Los Lunas, NM. He retired and relocated to Henderson, Nevada in 2018.
Boysie’s absolute joy came from working out at the gym, 24 HR Fitness and Planet Fitness. He was an avid exercise buff and went to the gym six days a week until a week before his passing. Boysie was a true fan of old western movies. He stayed up till the wee hours watching any cowboy movie that was showing. Boysie also had a passion for 60’s and 70’s soul music. He was proud of his collection. If you ever rode in his car, you know that meant you’d probably be hearing some Marvin Gaye, some Earth Wind and Fire and a little Sly and the Family Stone.
Boysie accepted Christ at an early age and spent his lifetime extraordinarily strong in his faith. He transitioned into eternity on August 28, 2022 at the age of 71.
He leaves to lovingly carry on his memory two daughters; Stacey Pendleton Edmund, Torrie Pendleton Lattimore (Robert); and three sons; Michael Baker, David Ellington and Josh Pendleton; his three sisters: Cheryl Bundy (Chicago Heights, IL), Patricia Smith (Indianapolis, IN) and Karen Cody (Aurora, CO); six nieces; Kimberly (Robert) Los Angeles, CA, Tamara Taylor, Indianapolis, IN, Bridget Williams (Andree), Orlando, FL, Crystal Conley, Homewood, IL, Rae Donna Thompson, Homewood, IL, Cheri Baker (Darryl), Oak Park, IL; four nephews; Terry Clark (Onjae), Aurora, CO, Jordan Winston, Jarrod Winston and Jeremy Winston, all of Dallas, TX.
