I’ve been thinking about you so often since being back home from school. I even got to see Miles play recently. He’s doing amazing and he’s like a little carbon copy of YOU! I miss you so much.  Thank you for everything. Love you!❤️

I will always remember my cousin Wesley. What I remember most about him, as a young child he was always serious-minded, smart, gifted and determined to succeed in life. The last time I saw him was at my mother, Doretha's home, in Henderson, while I was on winter break from college. I remember the tilt of his head and the smile upon his face as we shared in conversation. 
As the years have come and gone, whenever I visited Las Vegas, I would ask about Wesley and hear about what he was doing in the basketball world and with the youth. So proud to hear of his many accomplishments in life. 
As I look upon the photo of Wesley crossing that stage at UNLV to receive his degree, I am reminded of life after we all depart this earth, where will we spend eternity? The moment I found out Wesley was in the hospital, I began praying for his soul and salvation, that only comes through receiving Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah into one's heart and having a personal relationship with Him. I also prayed and continue to pray for unity and peace for my entire family. God has heard and answered not only my prayers, but prayers of others along this request. Basketball was his world while here on earth. But now, Wesley knows his God and Heavenly Father. Wesley has passed on and graduated into eternity to be with his God, Yeshua the Messiah. May the presence of the Sweet Holy Spirit bring comfort, love and peace to all who knew Wesley. May we all be comforted in knowing we can all choose where we spend eternity. Will we choose Jesus (Yeshua) as our Messiah, as Wesley did? If so, we will see Wesley on the other side when we are called from this earth. Blessings and love,

Didn’t know Wes as well as most of you, but I always loved talking hoops and about up and coming talent he’s been coaching.  Such a nice guy. Condolences  to his family and friends. 

I have always known him as Boo!! We were childhood friends. Almost inseparable. We made dirt cakes and shoot marbles together. And we also got in trouble together. When we grew up we grew apart because of our living areas. I am so sadden to hear of his passing and even more sad because I never got the chance to know Wesley Reed!! The famous coach and an all around Good Guy! I will miss you Boo. Give your grandma a big kiss for me. I’m still praying for your family. Until we meet again❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wes, but I call him BOO that’s his nickname in MS. Me and his mama Shelia have been cousin and friend my best friend for over thirty years. Shelia would bring Boo to my house and I would go to her house I think he may have been  five at the time he would alway walk on his toes he was always a happy child never gave his mama any trouble he was in love with a basketball. Shelia would always talk about Boo and the big caring heart he had this made her so proud of him and when he had Miles she would tell me that he was proud of his son and he only wanted the best for him. He truly will be miss especially the people that he knew I will miss his mama telling me about the things they share together . For ever the Wesley Family

I meet Wesley years ago as a young teenager he was always so polite and kind he impressed me with his maturity and drive to achieve his success for himself and therefore will be a blessing to his family , we were always proud of him as he achieved what he set out to do and , I am not surprised to hear about how he helped so many other young people to achieve their dreams as well  although our hearts are heavy for the family we have full confidence he is rejoicing with the Saints that arrived before him . Dear Wes, 

Thank you for believing in me when nobody else did, thank you for pushing me to be the person I am today. You helped build me on and off the court. You gave me so many life skills I use till this day and I will for ever remember you and remember what you taught me from a young age. You were my first coach that took me and dedicated time to mold me on and off the court. You were a role model to myself and many others. You impacted so many lives and you were truly an inspiration. I still can't believe you are gone it doesn't feel real at all that I'm writing this message. But I will continue your legacy and play for you this season! You told me 3 weeks before I found out you were gone that you would be coming to my games this college season and now you will be watching over the games instead. I'm so happy I was able to play for you and learn from you. Thank you coach we love you!! 

Dear West, 

I’ve known you since I was a young-in, you’ve always been there to get me better when it came to basketball or just anything in general.  You had an answer to everything, you helped me get through a-lot. I played on your AAU team for at least 5 years maybe 6. You got my where I am today and that means a-lot. I love you Westly Reed, I LOVE YOU a-lot. 

Wes was such a good man. He was  passionate and caring of his players and treated everyone with great respect. Wes helped a lot of young people become better players and more importantly better people. His soul will definitely rest in peace.

Truly, got to spend a whole lot of time with Wes, Mitch, Todd and the North Gym 3 on 3 crew, after his UNLV days. I know most people know Wes as the gentle person, but he had a fierce intensity when it came to competition and winning!!  We had so many battles in the North Gym, but what I will Remeber the most, is the endless conversations on the floor after we were done, and the common sense, compassionate, caring Wes would re-emerge!!!!  All Love and Respect, and rest Easy!! 🏀❤️🙏🏾

Although I never met his blood family in person, I can say I knew where he came from because of his big heart. 
Wes was my friend for sure! He was one of the most loyal, dependable & real friends one could have ever had. 
I always wished he had his own son especially knowing how much he poured his heart mentoring soooo many young men & women! 
I have never seen him lose his “cool”, even when he was frustrated he managed to be reassuring and SOLID. 
I’ll never forget his big smile, but mostly his laughter. Wes…you’ve always been- one of a kind.

Just an easy going lovable nephew . He listened to others and loved what he did. Basketball and his son was his life and he was so kind and loving.  I really never saw him angry.  He changed this world for  the better no doubt.   God takes the good early sometimes and we may not know why right now but one thing we can all learn from him is to give  it your all like he did and  focus on the good in others always.  He was a very compassionate and driven person and he     
always found the best in others always.

Receive his soul to the God most high.


For me my memory of him remains very present as he has been a great neighbor for 21yrs.  It’s a quiet gated community  but I can still see him setting up safety cones in the street to make sure everything was cool for all the children.  There he is out front watching Miles zoom around on his bike and being his amazing self.  He loved that guy with all his heart.  
We shared many conversations about  trees and plants and landscaping.  I never ceased to be impressed by his knowledge.  He was a big man with an equally large  kind heart and a love for nature’s beauty.
Throughout the years we could always count on each other.  
One example I’ll never forget of the kind of friend and man he was was while I was out of town.  My security alarm went off and I called him in a panic to ask if he could check it out (knowing it could be a while before ADT showed up!).  I’ll never forget how he and Hope stood outside in the middle of the street watching in the dark at midnight on a cold December night making sure my home was safe.  We didn’t have to talk much to know we always had each other’s back.  
He is painfully missed.

First I would like to say that my heart goes out to his family especially his Sun because he was such a light in Big Wes life. I met Wes with Coach Mitch Mitchell 20 plus years ago. I called them the dynamic duo because together they were developing some of the best young talent in Vegas. Wes dedicated his life to help other's on and off the court. He loved his community to the point I use to see him and say damn what you doing sleeping in the gym, he would just smile and laugh. I enjoyed our conversation every time I saw him because it was always positive and uplifting. I love basketball Big Wes loved loved loved basketball. Wes has been a dear friend of mine since college.  We never lost touch over all these years.  He was such an amazing guy and always wanted to hear about my life and what I was up to.  He called me Ross, my maiden name.  I loved so many things about Wes and I have so many stories about him.  The most important for me to share was our last text message exchange because it was all about his son and his wishes for him in life.  He said,” I don’t care if he chooses music as a career,  to be an athlete or business…I will support him.”  Rest In Peace my dear dear friend!

I met Coach Wes when I was a freshman at Silverado high school in 2006. I was a high talented freshman and I had the blessing of being able to play for Coach Wes on Jv a few games before he recommended to the varsity coach that I was ready to move up after couple
Games. I did not want to AT ALL, I felt like I was finding my groove and playing well to only get moved up to not play as much on Varsity. I would plead with Coach Chill (head varsity coach) to let me stay on JV with Wes the full year but he wasn’t having it, I wasn’t happy at all. I remember talking to Coach Wes about it for an hour or so and in that hour he had convinced me I was the best player at the school and that playing JV was a waste for me and for the first time I started to understand, he was definitely a players coach.  He instilled confidence in me that year that had stuck with me throughout my whole basketball career for the next 10 years. Coach Wes always had a way to put a smile on everyones face with his wise words and goofy/smiley attitude. I wouldn’t be able to find one player who would disagree with the kind of great person/mentor that Wes was. RIP to the Legend 💙

I will always remember Wes and his laugh in the gym.  Always going out of his way to speak to all and his help in the community will be a huge loss!

I loved Wes and was sad to read that he had died. He was one of a kind. My daughter, Rachel,  played for the Heat when she was a grade schooler and into middle school. Wes was a great coach to her and the other girls. The youth of Las Vegas need more people like him. Our best to his family, and all the others who had a chance to share time with him as parents and players.
