Vera G. Scimone (nee DeFlorentis), was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Cleveland, and passed away March 18, 2013. She was preceded in death by her brother, Freddie DeFlorentis. Vera was the beloved mother of Bobby (Peggy) Scimone and Cyndi Scimone; stepmother of Lona Grey; grandmother of Meagan (Eric) Olsen; stepgrandmother of McKenna McWilliam; stepgreat-grandmother of Merrick and Daxton Leon Capps; beloved sister of Alba (John) Roberts; and aunt and great-aunt of many. Vera was a PBX operator at Harrah's Hotel and Casino, retiring after 23 years of service. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 22. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial following, at Palm Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cancer center of your choice.
