Steven Wayne Carpenter, 67, of Las Vegas, NV passed away February 6th, 2021. Steve and his wife, Shirley (Mowery) Carpenter have resided in Las Vegas for the past 25 years where he was an employee for NV Energy Generating Stations.
Steve was born July 24th, 1953 in Glendive, MT and lived his early years in Richey, MT. He and his family moved to Sidney, MT when he was in grade school and Steve graduated from Sidney Senior High in 1971. He married Shirley Mowery, also from Sidney, and they had two children, Derek and Melani. In 1978, they moved to Colstrip, MT where Steve started his career at Montana Power. He later transferred to the newly opened Basin Electric Power Plant in Wheatland, WY where he worked for 15 years before moving to Nevada. Having completed a 42-year career in the power business, Steve gained much knowledge and worked with many great co-workers who he considered friends.
Steve’s most treasured joy in life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with them outdoors, especially the mountains. He loved fishing and rock hunting. Steve also spent much of his free time practicing numerous forms of art including woodworking, pencil drawings and his famous oil paintings in Bob Ross style. He shared his many talents with his children and grandchildren. They are thankful for the memories they have and the countless things they learned from him. Steve will be remembered by those who loved him for his sense of humor, his paintings and drawings, the maple milkshakes he made with an original Tastee-Freez shake machine, homemade caramel rolls, and of course his big insulated mug of Pepsi.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his children Derek (Tami) Carpenter and Melani (Brent) Kline; grandchildren Jordan, Tyler, Colton, Dylan, Justin, Emily, Alyvia and Lindsey; his sister Lyn (Ralph) Ludington and his brother Mark (Sara) Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Gail Carpenter.
