Stanley Garrett Thomas, of Las Vegas, 79, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. His loving wife, Sandy was at his bedside. Born May 30, 1934 in Castleford, Idaho, and graduated from Jerome High School in 1953. A few years later, he moved to Las Vegas and worked for 30 years at the Nevada test site as a dispatch foreman. He met Sandra in 1964. They were married and have lived in the same house in Las Vegas for 47 years where they raised five children. He was an avid outdoorsman and a true lover of the game of golf. He was a committed member of the North Las Vegas Elks Lodge and served as president of the Nevada State Elks Association in 1986-87. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie; sons, Cliff and Stanley; sisters, Gloria Stratton and Bobbi Brewer; and grandson, Thaddeus Isaacs. He is survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife, Sandra "Sandy"; daughter, Debbie Rapp Isaacs of Henderson; son, Michael Rapp of Henderson; daughter, Susan Thomas of Las Vegas; son, Robert (Sonja) Thomas of Bruchkobel, Germany; grandson Tyler Rapp of Henderson; granddaughters, Christina (Florian) and Michelle; and great-granddaughter, Elaine, all of Bruchkobel; brother, Gaylord of Charlotte Hall, Md. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Short memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. Reception will immediately follow at 1854 Muchacha Drive, Henderson for anyone who would like to come by and pay their respects to the family. The family has also requested that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation in Stan's name to the a charity of your choice or to the Alzheimer's Association.
