He joined the Clark County Fire Department after graduating from Las Vegas High School in 1959. He became the youngest Fire Chief in the United States in 1978 and served the Department and his community in that capacity until his retirement in 1990.
Roy was preceded in death many years ago by his beloved son, Richard.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Miriam; son, Scott, of Audubon, New Jersey; brother, Kenneth Parrish of Las Vegas; nieces, Amanda Parrish of Las Vegas and Shanna Sorkness of Tacoma, Washington; nephews, Brent Bean, Brian Lowe, and Bradley Low, all of Las Vegas; daughter-in-law, Eileen Parrish of Audubon, New Jersey; and sister-in-law, Mayra Parrish of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Services will be held at Palm Mortuary at 7600 S. Eastern Avenue on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
