She was born to Christopher Goke and Saturnina Garcia Goke in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She attended Normal Hugh HS and attended a few years at Highlands University. She worked as a nurse aid at camp Luna when the war was on. She was married to Charles T. Ortega on June 23,1956 in Las Vegas, New Mexico at the Immaculate Conception Church and shortly after moved to North Las Vegas, Nevada, and raised their 5 kids. She moved to Richmond, California, in 1974 with the family and divorced on January 13, 1977. She later moved to San Pablo, CA, and purchased a nice home in a senior community where she decorated the place inside and out for many years. RoseMarie was a homemaker first, then later worked many years in hospitality at a hotel and hospital as a housekeeper, as well as a personal housekeeper to many individuals. She was an active Girl Scout Leader for many years, and a board member of the PTA. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, decorating for the holidays, crafts, dancing, and singing. She was active at St. Joseph Church in San Pablo, and active at the community Senior Centers. She also worked many years at the voting stations. She loved traveling and went to Rome, Germany, Italy, Canada, Hawaii, and Mexico several times. She was very giving and enjoyed writing cards and letters to all on a daily basis. She is survived by her siblings Robert Goke of Español, NM, Rebecca Cordova of Las Vegas, NM, and Albert Goke of Rio Rancho, NM. Also survived are her children, Carla Ortega and significant other Richard Hoy of North Las Vegas, NV, Charles Ortega and wife Jean (Wimber) of Vacavilla, CA, Debra Egan of Henderson, NV and Donald Ortega and wife Gina (Farrugia) of Hayward, CA. She had 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at Palm Mortuary on Monday, July 8th, at 8:00am. on Boulder Hwy, where she will be laid to rest near her late daughter, Annamarie Calderon.
