Roger Lee Leichty

Roger (Rick) Lee Leichty was born 12/10/1945 and raised  in Canonsburg, PA.  He was an adventurous Leichty who decided to leave his hometown and move out to the West Coast in his late teens for high hopes of "California Dreams" and a "Rebel Without a Cause" lifestyle.  After several years of living in different areas of California, Rick settled down and planted roots in Las Vegas.  He got married in 1978 to the love of his life Rebecca Ozuna and was blessed with 3 awesome sons Aaron, Mark & Kurt who he would do anything in the world for.  Rick was a very loving Dad or "POPS" to his boys and Grandpa Leichty to Ozzie, Jr, Alex, and Noah.  He was a man of great character who did not mince words and always spoke his mind with conviction about current events, politics, golf, his sports teams the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates & Penguins and his favorite subject, His Boys. Rick was a proud Teamster member Local 631, working out at the NV Test Site and locally with a furniture crew until retirement.  In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his sons & grandsons, traveling back to PA to visit his family, playing golf and having some beers and conversation with friends at his local pubs.  Rick passed away peacefully in his sleep early morning Thursday May 1, 2014.  He is preceded by his dad Roy, mom Freda, brothers David and Dale and sister Bonnie. He is survived by his 3 sons and 4 grandsons, brothers Roy Jr., Mark and sister Joyce.  His funeral will be held at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89131 at 2pm.   He will be eternally missed and cherished in memory.  We love you Dad!!! - Your Boys
