Robert "Al" Elvena, 79, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away at his home, Jan. 25, 2015. He was born May 10, 1935, in Philadelphia, to Joseph Elvena Sr. and Dorothy Hazel Hendrickson. Al enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Korean War. A successful entrepreneur, Al owned several businesses throughout his life, which when it came time to work in the hotel and casino industry, it provided a smooth transition. He retired after many years of service as a food and beverage manager/director. Al was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who lived life to the fullest, spending time with his family, flying his planes, riding snowmobiles, cooking and traveling in his RV. Al is survived by his wife, Denise; three children, Bill (Ladonna), Debbie and Alan; five grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie), Mitchell (Chloe), Colby, Kyle and Kaylin; siblings, Carole, Joseph Jr., Ronny, Marina, Joann, Jackie, Kekai and Candace; and his great-granddaughter, Shaolin.
