Richard Frank Wohletz

June 26,1936 -September 17,2022

Richard Wohletz, 86, passed away peacefully September 17 after a long battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lynda; children Greg, Brian and Susan; grandchildren Albert, Erin, Sarah, Elizabeth, Jacob and Mary and daughter in law Lori and son in law Fred. After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, College of Chemistry 1959, He moved to Las Vegas where he began his career as a chemical engineer with KerrMcGee Corp in Henderson where he worked for 40 years. During that time he was part of a team who won a patent in battery technology in 2001. Richard was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church where he served as Boy Scout master for many years. He was an avid gardener and reader ,especially history. He loved to travel and his favorite trip was a three week African safari. His funeral was in San Diego, October 8th. Donations can be made to the San Diego Zoo which he visited every chance he got.
