He grew up in Birmingham Alabama, where he attended and graduated from Hooper City High school.He attended Tuskegee University for three years, prior to entering the Armed Forces, he met Bertha Johnson and they were married, July 19, 1952 they were married for 67 years in Birmingham, Alabama. 5 children were born to this union, Oris Lenair Jones, Sandra Tienne Jones, (Cromer), Daryl Gregory Jones, Robert Nathaniel Jones ( Deceased), Renard Craig Jones.
Richard Jones Jr. retired from the US Postal Service in Santa Monica, California. Richard Jones Jr. also served in the Armed Forces. He served in the Korean War and World War 2. Richard Jones Jr.
served on the frontline combat duty, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
His Battalion was the first group to be integrated in the Armed Forces durig the war which he served.
Richard Jones Jr. and Bertha Jones both attended Holy Trinity AME Church in Las Vegas Nevada. He was a faithful servant until he went home to be with the Lord.
Richard Jones Jr. Was preceded by his wife Bertha Jones & Son Robert Nathaniel Jones, Richard Jones Jr was survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grand children, two sisters, Amanda Brown , in Valdosta Georgia. Jacqueline Moore in Macon, Georgia, and three brothers, Robert Jones Inglewood, California, Jesse Jones in Valdosta, Georgia, Lunsford Jones in Jacksonville, Florida, (Brother in law) Nathaniel Johnson, in Apple Valley, California, and a host of nieces and nephews and loving friends.
