We fondly remember Ray as the best neighbor ever and a loyal and caring friend.  Ray was the guardian of our neighborhood and spent many evenings sitting in the driveway with his dog, exchanging greetings with everyone who walked or drove by.  He graciously invited our family to enjoy many social events at his home and always welcomed us with open arms.  He holds a special place in our hearts and we mourn his loss with the family he adored.  Please accept our deepest sympathy.

I had the privilege of serving with Ray on the Nevada Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), and I interacted with him often during my tenure as president of the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association (NVSCA).  Ray was the personification of the old E.F. Hutton advertising slogan, “When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen.”  Whether it was at a POST Commission meeting, an NVSCA discussion, or a monthly breakfast meeting of Clark County law enforcement partners at Main Street Station, when Ray spoke everyone present stopped speaking and listened to his commentary.  His broad level of experience and expertise made him the de facto  “go to guy” for all matters related to law enforcement.  I proudly called Ray my friend and trusted colleague, and my heart breaks for his family.  Rest In Peace dear friend, and to Ray’s family, please know that he was revered by those of us who knew him professionally and personally.  We truly lost one of the good guys.

Today we remember our special friend, Ray Flynn. . Our loving thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as we grieve such a huge loss. To know Ray’s family is to know love, and he will forever live on in their hearts.

Thank you for all the amazing memories, heartful laughs, Christmas Eve celebrations, tasty food experiences, sound advice, and always having our backs no matter what corner of the world we travelled to. We love you and the entire Flynn family.

Assistant Sheriff Flynn's instruction regarding Use of Force for the Citizen Police Academy and LVMPD back in 2001 is a major influencing factor in my recent career change. He was inspirational to me and his passion for the department was contagious. We were recently talking of going to lunch to celebrate my new position, and it is devastating to me that he is gone.

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched, by having Ray as a part of it,  for the last 30 years. His smile,  his laugh, and his magnetic personality will always be remembered.

I was lucky enough to call Ray a friend for more than 37 years.  We policed the streets of Las Vegas together as line officers through our promotions into the administrative ranks.  Though we worked for different departments, there was never a time when Ray wouldn’t drop what he was doing to provide advice or simply lend me a hand.  I will always remember his laughter, warm presence and his ability to make you feel like family.  I will miss him terribly.  

My thoughts and prayers are with Linda and  the entire family.

I’ve known Ray for over 28 years. He was my friend, boss, coworker.   My best memories are from the early 90’s when he was the SWAT Lt and I was his secretary.   We had many laughs at the office and at the old DBR bar!!  I remember my work girlfriends would call Ray at around 5:30 begging him to let me leave work early ( in SWAT we all worked swing shift) so I could go to the DBR with them!  
Once you were friends with Ray, he made you feel like family.   No matter where I was assigned I could always walk into Rays office and he’d stop what he was doing and give me a hug, like no time had passed since the last time I saw him. When he retired he had so many people at his retirement party. It really showed just how many people liked Ray. 
My heart goes out to his family. He will be missed. 

So sorry for your loss. I will never forget all the soccer games and practices.

My memories of our Assistant Sheriff Ray Flynn goes back to the early days of the Southern Nevada PFES.  Shared many a laugh during meetings, events to include preparing floats for the Saint Patrick's parades held in Downtown area of Las Vegas to be later moved to the City of Henderson.  Working as a civilian for LVMPD I remember how Ray always had the time to listen to you and he truly cared. He made such a difference in so many lives.   My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Flynn family during this most difficult time.  Rest in Peace Ray and God Bless.

We were friends and neighbors for many years, we shared lots of happy times together,. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

We have loved being family with all of the Flynns for more than a decade and have wonderful memories of all of the events and visits we shared. Our love for the Flynn family was instant. Ray was always the voice of reason when we traveled or planned anything. Generous with his time, love and advice.  He and Zolt could discuss politics, hockey and then I could pull Ray from that  conversation to discuss all things pop culture (mostly the Kardashians) and recipes. Amazing family that he adored with all his heart, and a storied career will forever stand as a monument of Ray's accomplishments. Blessed to have known Ray and he will forever be in our hearts .  

I loved Ray the first time I met him. My son, Joe, picked this amazing woman to marry, Kelli. When we first met her family we felt the embrace of friendship and knew instantly my son had made the right choice!  Ray made us feel like family after just one visit.  I’ll always remember his smile, laugh and larger than life personality.  He made every person in his orbit feel safe and cared for.  

Our hearts are broken now and we are feeling sadness at our core.  However, he won’t be forgotten, he was too large for that.  The stories we will tell and hear will last a lifetime.  Today we grieve, tomorrow we will remember and celebrate his too brief time here.  

May you fly on the wings of angels...  God’s speed and when it’s our time to pass, I’ll be searching for your laugh and looking forward to a hug.  We’ll miss you, but rest assured, we’ve got it from here.

Our love for Ray and Linda and the whole Flynn family is beyond words.  We miss him so much and will never forget his warmth, generosity, friendship and love.  He had such a special way of connecting and including.   He was a person that filled a room with fun and laughter and was larger than life.  It is still hard to believe he is gone.
