Claudia later married Willie Macklin who raised Ray as one of his own sons. In 1964 the family moved to Las Vegas, NV, where Ray attended Highland Elementary School (Booker), Cashman Middle School, and graduated from Western High School. He also attended Mesa Community College for two years, and one year Arizona State University. Upon returning to Las Vegas, trying to find his path in life Ray pursued a career as a time keeper in the Hotel Industry, where he was employed at the Tropicana and the Stardust Hotels.
During his time at the Tropicana, he meet and later married the love of his life Tonie Staten. They had been married 31 years, at the time of Tonie passing.
Ray and Tonie were inseparable, when you saw either one of them you always knew the other was sure to follow. Life without Tonie was extremely difficult for Ray, but with his brothers & sisters by his side, and support from friends, he pushed thru until God called him home. Ray leaves behind to cherish in his memory, two sons Troy, and Jerome, one daughter Teneisa, five siblings, Betty, Deborah, Brian, Perry, and Terrell, and a host of grand children, nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
