Raul was born in Las Vegas, NV, parents - Abel and Magdalena Salazar, he leaves behind his siblings – Joseph Salazar and Roger Salazar and son – Steven Roger Salazar.
Raul attended Bonanza High School, where he earned a Varsity letter in Soccer. Raul received a soccer scholarship to attend soccer powerhouse Yavapai College in Prescott, AZ, later Raul transferred to Belleville Area College in Illinois earning another soccer scholarship. While at Belleville Area College, Raul helped guide Belleville to their best finish in their school’s history. At the NJCAA soccer tournament, they finished 4th place in the country. Raul earned All-Region honors. Upon returning to Las Vegas, Raul played many years in the Las Vegas local adult leagues, his best soccer memories were with the “Universal” team, at one point Raul played on the same team with his two brothers Joseph and Roger. Raul took his love of soccer into coaching; he was a coach for FC Vegas. Raul had great joy in mentoring and teaching his players in sports and in life. Raul enjoyed sci-fi, movies and comics. Raul worked at Caesars Palace for several years. Raul’s sports teams – he enjoyed supporting the Rams football team, the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, and the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team.
When Raul’s mother Magdalena passed tragically, Raul helped his father Abel out a lot for several years.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm, October 11, 2019 at Palm Eastern Mortuary. Burial will be held at 2:00pm at Palm Eastern Cemetery. There will be an announcement at the Service for meeting afterwards to celebrate Raul.
