Paula was born to Bernard and Eva Stern in Buffalo, NY, on May 20, 1951. At an early age, Paula helped her parents, both Jewish immigrants and Holocaust survivors, achieve the American dream by working in the family-owned grocery. A child of the 50’s and 60’s, she had an appreciation for beautiful cars, pop and doo-wop music, and drive-in milkshakes. Most of all, she had a deep love for animals, particularly dogs. In 1976 she met a hunk, named Joshua Fishman, who hailed from Israel. Six weeks from the time they met they were married and he joined the family business. The two lived together in New York until 1983, when the two lovebirds drove to Florida and traded their snowy winters for sunny beaches. In 1985, G-d gave Paula a daughter, Rachael, who she loved with all her heart. Paula made certain that faith in G-d was upheld in the home, putting Rachael in religious school, and honoring the Jewish traditions throughout the years. Paula and Joshua moved to Nevada in 2008 and she retired in the Las Vegas area. Throughout her life, Paula held a number of jobs: starting with grocer, she was also a newspaper salesperson, and a dog groomer. She was a member of a bowling league, she loved doing needlepoints, and she was an avid swimmer. Above all else, she was a devoted mother and wife up to her final day. Paula’s warmth and big heart will be missed. Private services were held in-person and over Zoom. Paula is survived by her daughter, Rachael, her husband of forty-four years, Joshua, and her younger sister, Marcia. King David Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.
