Olivia Theresa Lewis or Terry as her family liked to call her, was born in California on June 1, 1957. She was the first born of her mother, Olivia. She spent some of her childhood in Oregon before moving to Las Vegas with her mother, brother, Glen, and sister, Kim. At 12 yrs old her mother married Thomas Whittle, who became her father.
Terry married her first husband at 18. She had her son in 1981 and Married her second husband when her son was still a small child. She made her home in Mesquite Nevada, Bishop California, Bellingham Washington, Costa Rica and finally Las Vegas Nevada.
After working in the casino industry for some years, Terry became a florist and owned her own shop. After returning from Costa Rica, she began working as support staff for CCSD in their food service department where she met her best friend Marianne Castanon. She remained with them until becoming medically disabled in 2021.
Terry was kind, generous, intelligent and artistic. She loved to give gifts. She never sought compensation or retaliation for any trespass against her. She was stubborn and lived life on her own terms. She was fiercely independent and always took her responsibility as the oldest very seriously. She frequently made sure her parents had a running car and her siblings had any help needed.
She fought for independence even after becoming disabled and worked hard on her physical recovery. She was hospitalized this past December after an unknown accident at the facility she was living in which led to her demise.
She made mistakes but never with malice. She loved quietly, without accolades and never sought the spotlight. No longer having her presence on earth will be felt for many years to come.
Terry was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lewis, Father, Thomas Whittle, sister, Kimberly Hilton and her brothers in law, Michael Hilton, Darren Mitchell and Tupoununu Vea. She is survived by her mother Olivia Whittle, son, Robert Gilly, granddaughters, Hope Gilly and Abigail Gilly. Also, her siblings, Glen Whittle, Joseph Eale, Grace Mitchell, Angela Campbell (William), Bridget Vea-Whittle and Leslie Nady (Jake). She is loved and cherished by all of her nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in the chapel at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 2pm. A small reception will follow at the home of Grace Mitchell and Theresa Whittle.
