O.D. Thomas, 75, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away December 5, 2012. He was born and raised in Siloam Georgia where he graduated from Greensboro High School. Serving his country and government seemed to be his life’s calling. O.D. served and retired from the United States Air Force after 24 years (June 12, 1956 to Jan. 31, 1981). He reached the rank of Master Sergeant and served in countries such as Spain and Germany. After retiring from the military, he then went on to work for the United States Postal Service for 24 years (1983 to 2007). He served the post office and its employees as the Mail Handlers Union Stewart and President.
Being a staunch Democrat, O.D. loved to talk about politics. His hobby was ensuring that Democrats were elected to office. He loved and adored his six grandchildren; he always made sure they always had everything they wanted more than they needed.
O.D. had a rough exterior but was soft at heart - he would always go out of his way to help a family member or friend in need. He will always be remembered as a man with a kind heart.
O.D. Thomas is survived by his brother Kenneth Hall and sisters DeLois Rowland, Brenda Anderson, and Shirley Billings. He had six children that have all survived him as well, they are Allen Thomas, Odale Thomas, Darryl (Hilary) Thomas, Dana Thomas, Bianca Uhlman and Tanja (Torsten) Brunke. He is preceded in death by his mother Louis Hall, father Monroe Thomas and brother Ed “Bozo” Jordan.
