Nicholas was born on December 7, 1929 to Louis and Josephine Forese in Meadville, PA. He served in the Navy in Morocco and Guam being honorably discharged in 1952. He attended college as a mechanical engineering student specializing in piping and pipe design, majoring in mathematics. Following in his father’s footsteps, he went on to become a pipefitter. In 1992, he wrote and published a book on pipe math to aid as a tool for pipefitters to become more efficient in the industry.
In addition to being a pipefitter, Nick also worked as a pit boss in various casinos throughout Las Vegas in the 60’s and 70’s, as well as working as a dealer in card rooms and casinos in California up until last year. He was nominated for the Guiness book of World Records as the oldest dealer in the world.
He was active with the Pipefitter’s union working well past retirement age. His zest for life was like no other. He enjoyed working, dancing, playing cards, always being physically and socially active. His spirit was unbreakable, which he very clearly displayed through his battle with cancer. He smiled and joked through the pain and never complained. When family and friends would visit through his illness, it gave him great joy. He relished spending time with family and friends. His love for his family was infinite; he always said that family is most important.
Everyone that knew him loved him. With his gregarious personality, he made friends quickly and easily, always telling a joke or making everyone laugh in some way. He was tough and resilient, overcoming things that many others couldn’t but at the same time he had a kind and compassionate heart and would help anyone in need. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe what an amazing father, friend, uncle, grandfather, or mentor he was, and he will be sorely missed by all.
Nicholas was predeceased by his parents Louis and Josephine Forese, his sisters Nancy Ischo and Carmella Jackson, his niece Kathie Ischo and his sister-in-law Laura Forese.
