Mildred Ann Quinn (Svatek), 68, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, Nevada and the Chicagoland Area passed away peacefully at her Las Vegas home on June 7th, 2022 following a long and courageous battle with peritoneal cancer.
Known by her friends as Mille and as Mi-Mi by her family, Mildred was born August 2nd, 1953 in Deerfield, Illinois to Frances Longo and John Allen. Mildred’s mother Frances later remarried and Mildred was adopted as the devoted daughter of Jerry Svatek. In the union of Frances and Jerry, Mildred became the cherished sister to Debbie (Joe) Aranki and Julie (Frank) Tubikanec.
After completing her college education while working and raising two children on her own, Mildred achieved her Certified Public Accountant and spent the remainder of her career working in Finance. Being a detail-oriented person and a lover of music and entertainment, Mildred proudly spent her professional career serving as the Finance Controller for exciting companies including House of Blues, Ultimate Fighting Championship, Motown Cafe, and a number of resorts in the Chicago area. Mildred’s everyday focus during her professional career was to not only make sure each job was done well but to also support and enrich the lives of those she worked with. Throughout her career and personal life, Mildred was considered to be an inspirational, brave, and independent self-made woman by many who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In her personal life, Mildred was revered as a kind, loving, and motivational source of strength and wisdom. While always encouraging her family and friends to be the best version of themselves, Mildred always made time to patiently listen and lend of herself whenever possible. Mildred’s devotion and kindness also extended into her hobbies where as an avid animal lover she served as the Treasurer and doggie foster-mom for a number of pet rescue organizations.
Growing up in a musical home, Mildred was a talented violin player and singer. Early in life, she performed in local touring bands as a fiddle player and shared lead and backup vocals with her bandmates. Mildred proudly shared her love of live music throughout her life with family and friends through taking them to live shows as often as possible. Mille could often be found singing along in the stands with the likes of the Rolling Stones, Santana, Etta James, and B.B. King.
Mildred is survived by her children, Jeff (Jennifer), Jenny; her mother, Frances; her sisters, Debbie and Julie; her grandson, Michael; and nieces and nephews, Samantha, Max, Jerry, Frank, and Charlie.
