Michael was born in Milwaukee WI in 1947. After graduating high school, he went on to proudly serve his country as a United States Marine and earning a Purple Heart. After which, he attended Cardinal Stritch University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business.
Michael met the love of his life, Joanne, thru his sister “Mel” and the two of them shared a love that spanned 40+ years. They moved to Las Vegas in 1992. They loved to travel and went on cruises to places like Alaska and Hawaii (where they renewed their vows).
Michael was a dedicated employee in any field he endeavored. He was a cross-country truck driver, a school bus driver for Clark County School District and he also worked for Square D Corp.
Michael had many hobbies that he enjoyed; Golf, playing cards, swimming and watching sports like football and baseball.
He is survived by: His loving wife Joanne, daughter Debra Jo Abendroth (Daniel Abendroth); his sons Bernard R Steffen (Belinda Steffen daughter in law) and Terry Steffen; his sister Melodie Hass, his brother Patrick Sharkey; Granddaughter Kelly Nolasco, Grandson Nickolas Abendroth; great-grandchildren Courtney and Miley Nolasco and Granger Abendroth along with many nieces and nephews.
His services are to be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Sept. 6 at 12:40pm. 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive Boulder City NV 89005.
